March 2014 – Miami to Manhattan

I finally went through with my plans to change my hair, and for someone as indecisive as I am, it was no small feat. It was my first time at Avant Garde Salon, and I really loved the end result. The ombré is subtle but eventually I want to add more blonde (ish) to it. I did a lot of walking around today – started off at Wynwood, wandered into a Del Toro sample sale, went to look at sunglasses at Saks (I have my eye on a particularly to-die-for pair of Cèlines), and had some Mac & Cheese at Swine in the Gables. Ah, weekends. It’s like they slip right through your fingers. But anyway… hope you all enjoyed! x

Finalmente fui adelante con mis planes para cambiar mi cabello, y para alguien tan indecisa como yo, tomó largo tiempo en decidirme. Fue mi primera vez en Avant Garde Salon, y realmente me encantó el resultado final. El ombré es sutil pero eventualmente quiero agregar más rubio. Caminé un montón hoy – primero por Wynwood; pasé por una venta de muestra en Del Toro, fui a mirar gafas de sol en Saks (tengo echado el ojo a un par de Cèlines que están para morirse), y comí un delicioso Mac & Cheese en Swine por los Gables. Ah, los fines de semana. Es como que se nos van por los dedos. Pero en fin… espero que todos hayan disfrutado! x

I was having a great time at The Delano (Did you know they serve frozen fruit by the pool? To die) up until I left my sunglasses in the bathroom. Is there any worse feeling than losing Chanel? Either way, I’ve had Equipment on the brain lately. I had to stop myself from buying this exact blouse in a different color because otherwise I’d have a closet similar to that of Einstein’s (he wore the same thing every day fyi). But can you really ever have enough well-tailored silk in your closet? I guess I’m on the fast track to finding out…

Last week I got the chance to preview the new restaurant opening at The Astor Hotel in Miami Beach, The Downstairs. I started off with an old-fashioned, which was absolutely delicious, and the same can be said for the Steakhouse salad (which unfortunately disappeared so fast as to not make a photographic appearance), the tortellini, the Devil’s Cake, and the banana soufflé type thing. I swear my diet starts next Monday. The waiters were extremely attentive, and for the amount of people that were present, the wait for the food was rather short. My only regret is not getting two servings of the Steakhouse salad. SO GOOD.

La semana pasada tuve la oportunidad de probar el Nuevo restaurant que abrio en el Astor Hotel en Miami Beach, The Downstairs. Empecé con un ‘old-fashioned’, que estuvo absolutamente delicioso, y lo mismo puede decirse de la ensalada Steakhouse(que por desgracia desapareció tan rápido como para no hacer una apariencia fotográfica), los tortellini, el Devil’s Cake, y el soufflé de banana. Juro que mi dieta empieza el próximo lunes. Los camareros fueron extremadamente atentos, y para la cantidad de gente que estaba presente, la espera por la comida estuvo bastante corta. Lo único que lamento es no haber pedido dos porciones de la ensalada Steakhouse. TAN BUENA.
